GRANTS
As one in a network of over 125 Komen Affiliates, the Central and South Jersey Affiliate contributes to the Komen Promise by awarding funds to nonprofit organizations for education/screening programs that provide breast health and breast cancer services directly to the medically underserved or uninsured. Our commitment is to increase screening mammograms to save lives through early detection.
Since 1994, when we brought the Komen Race for the Cure® to New Jersey, we have continued to grow, and our Race is now the largest 5K race in the state. Fundraising events like the Race for the Cure, the Golf for the Cure, the Spirit of Jane Rodney and other special events have enabled us to distribute more than $18 million throughout the communities within our service area of these 13 counties: Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, Salem and Somerset. We have also invested another $3.3 million in breast cancer research.
The Central and South Jersey Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is a grantmaking organization whose promise is to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures. Since its inception in 1982, the Komen organization has raised more than $1 billion to become the world’s largest private funder of breast cancer research and community-based educational, screening and treatment programs. Virtually, all advancements in breast cancer understanding and breast cancer research have been touched in some way by Komen resources.
